What it is

The night shift nobody else wanted

A top-down arcade patrol game that plays in a browser tab. You take the night shift in Fenwick City in a patrol car nobody else wanted. You are on nights in Car 12. Find the ones doing something stupid.

Siren on. They pull over. That is the whole job.

From the game
No interface, lights off: the patrol car on a night street with its headlights on, a taxi crossing at the top left, parked cars at the bottom left, and a dense grid of lit buildings filling the right.

01

Work the beat

Cruise until somebody does something stupid, then light them up.

A stop being written: the patrol car with its siren on, red thrown one way and blue the other, pulled up close behind a stopped car with a green money gain and a puff of paper over it.

02

Make the quota

Two stops on night one, seven by the end, on a clock. Hold the siren and the ticket writes itself.

Night 1 at dusk, siren on: the patrol car at a wide junction with a taxi ahead of it and another to the left, a slip road and a park corner to the left, lit blocks filling the right.

03

Keep the sheet clean

Demerits fill on mistakes and empty on clean shifts; at a hundred the badge goes. With the lights on, nothing you crash into counts -- but a pedestrian always does.

The case underneath

Follow the money

One haulage firm, forty lorries, and roughly one run in eight that comes home invoiced full. What that adds up to is the case.

One card a night for twenty-three nights; this one runs to eleven pages.

Interview Room 2 mid-round: the suspect sweating at a table under a lamp, the door opening on a silhouette, a part-filled confession meter, and good cop and bad cop to choose between.

Questions

Do I need to install anything?
No. Press play; a six-second cold open and the handover come first, then you are on the road.
Phone or keyboard?
Both. One thumb steers and the siren is the big button; on a keyboard, W to go, A and D to steer.
Is there sound?
All of it synthesised, and none until you press something. Mute is in the settings, off the title screen.
Do I need an account?
No. Nothing is fetched once the page is open.
